The Upper limb is a complex working of joints and muscles that the physiotherapists at Premium Physiotherapy are expertly trained to assess and treat. We will look at the whole arm, as well as the shoulder blade and associated interaction with the spine to provide a complete physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation program. We treat all conditions involving the shoulder and elbow, including Rotator Cuff Tendon Injuries, Impingement, Instability / Dislocation and Frozen Shoulder
The Rotator cuff muscles are a group of 4 muscles running from the scapula to the top of the humerus. Rotator Cuff injuries can be categorised as either tendinopathy or a tear. Tendinopathy is a tendon disorder where repetitive strain or overload has caused a weakening and degeneration of the tendon.
Shoulder impingement is caused by pinching and compression of the rotator cuff tendons and the bursa (fluid filled sac) against the acromion (part of the scapula).
The shoulder is the most flexible joint in the body. With this great range of motion comes a vulnerability to instability, subluxation and dislocation.
Adhesive Capsulitis, or Frozen Shoulder as it is commonly known, can happen after trauma (fall, fracture), after prolonged immobilisation such as post-surgery, or spontaneously.
