The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is one of the ligaments inside your knee joint. Its role is to provide stability to the knee in both a straight position and in twisting, rotational movements, especially those performed at speed.
If ruptured, the ligament can be surgically reconstructed. This usually involves using tissue from your hamstring, quadriceps or patella tendon.
