Dry needling is derived from the principles of Eastern Medicine and Acupuncture.
It involves the insertion of a thin, sterile needle into trigger points in the muscle. A trigger point is a discrete, irritable, overactive point in the muscle that can be felt as a ‘knot’ or ‘tight band’. Placing a needle into one of these trigger points results in a reflex relaxation of the overactive ‘knot’ resulting in decreased pain and restoration of normal muscle function.
The needles used are very fine and the experience is often much more comfortable than you expect.
